Solitude

That one day.
You told me.
Solitude is lonely.
So please stay.

Chapter One : The Beginning

“Laurence.” A voice cried out. The blade pierced his heart. Blood rushed down. To think, his best friend killed him. Laurence fell to the ground, hard. Footsteps came closer, “LAURENCE!!” the voice shrieked out pain. “NO!” The feet came closer to the dying body, and there stood over him-a blonde haired beauty. Arm shaking, tears rolling and falling to his face. She dropped to her knees and tried to wrap her arms around his head; with one hand she reached over and took a tight grip of the blade. Then pulled it out.  Her other hand came over to the wound, she took attempt to conceal it. There was no progress, more tears came tumbling down. Her teeth clenched, and loosed grip on his clothes. Her head turned to the man who murdered Laurence. “You.” Her voice growled underneath her breath. “You-were his best friend-no his brother! He respected you and all you did was betray him. She picked up her knees and took a step towards him. “What’s the matter with you!” She cried out. Her fist clenched harder as she took another step forward to him. He stepped back. “You….” She cried harder, “you…. bastard.” She took another step closer to him. “I’ll kill you for this.” She darted forward trying to punch any way she could, but her tears muffled her attacks. He looked down at her, pathetically glanced over his shoulder as if she was a nuisance. “Don’t look at me like that.” She darted strait forward and aimed her fist into his stomach. He crashed back into the wall. He fell unconscious as his head threw back against the wall.  She tumbled to the ground with her face securely in her tear filled hands.

“Sher-i-dan” a different voice croaked. She turns quickly to the body lying on the ground.

“Laurence, I’m here. I’m here, so there’s no need to move. I’ll take care of you.” She rushed over to Laurence.  “Please, please.” She pulled up his body to her lap. “Don’t die, I’m here now. I’ll always be here, please please, just don’t die.” She started shaking; her tears cleared the blood from his face. “Don’t die…” She pulled him closer to listen to his heart. Bummp……bump……………..bump…. He was hanging on by a thread, his blood spread across along the right side of her silky white skin. She raised her head from his chest, and layside her hand beside his cheek. “Hang in there, don’t die on me, Laurence.” She tried to keep her voice stable, but it wobbled with her tears. Her hand pulled back quickly. He was cold. She put her hand back to his face. Colder than snow. “No!” Her voice screamed. She checked his pulse once more. Nothing. She sobbed. “No, no, this can’t be. Wake up, wake up damn it -wake up already.” She pulled him to her chest, closer to her heart. “Stay with me, please…. I’m begging you.” She screamed in agony.

“Its……Okay…” Laurence stumbled over his words. “Sheri…” He tried to spread a fake smile across his face, but it faded.

“Your not going to die, don’t you dare give up.” Sheridan’s tears fell upon his face.

“Sheridan. Laurence.” Another voice called from down the way. This voice was recognizable. Marcilene, Sheridan’s best friend. “Is that you Sheri?” She ran over to Sheridan. Gasp.  Her hand covered her mouth and a gasp let out. “Oh my…Sher…” Marcilene leaned over to her hand on Sheridan’s shoulder. But Sheridan refused the comfort; she pushed back the hand, and then sobbed even harder than before. “Sher, get a hold of yourself. We aren’t allowed to cry, we aren’t allow to show our feelings, we must go back now. We’ll give him a proper burial later.” She reached down to pull Sheridan up.

“Nooo!” She pushed back Marcilene’s hands. “I’m staying here with Laurence.” Sheridan screamed.

“What’s going on here?” Someone asked, coming, from the darkness, with about 6 other people.

“We have a loss, sir.” Marcilene answered.

“Who is it?” he asked, but he already knew the answer. Nobody spoke back. He looked down at the lifeless body and sobbing beautiful girl holding him as if he was still alive. “Get up Sheridan.”

“Leave me be.” Sheridan’s voice was cold and sharp threw all the tears.

“I said get up now!”

“Get lost!”

“Fine then, I’ll drag you back.” He reached over and locked her arms from the back. Then yanked her up.

“NOOOOO!!!!” She shrieked. “I can’t leave, please, I can’t. I love him. I have to heal him, I can heal him. I will. He’s not dead!”

“He’s dead, Sheridan. Get a grip! We have to go.” He tried pulling her again.

“I said no, get your hand off of me. I’m going to save him.”

“You can’t he’s gone.”

“Not he’s not,” She yanked backed. He let go.

“Do what you will.”

“I will save him!”

“He’s dead, Sheri.” He comforted her softly and put one arm around her shoulder. “You can’t bring him back.” He lifted the arm back a little, and then a sharp pain hit the center point of Sheridan’s neck. She fell down.

“Commander-” Marcilene started.

“I had to do it,” he interrupted. “She wasn’t coming any other way.” So there she laid aside to her beloved Laurence. Side-by-side, with her arms wrapped around his head and faces close. They looked so peaceful, but she only wish she were dead with him.

“They’re coming this way, we got to move.” One of the officers said.

“Lets go.” The Commander responded.

“We can’t just leave them here.” Marcilene barged.

“We have no choice, for now. We’ll have to come back.”

“Okay.” Marcilene muttered.

The soldiers all split into different directions.

“I love you.” Was the last words spoken from Laurence. Then his life fell into the deep sleep that’d he’d never awake from.

*******

Sheridan awoke the next morning, to find herself in the bed she planed to sleep in the night before. She sat up for a minute, waiting for it all to come back to her. What happened last night? She wondered.

“LAURENCE!” she screamed in terror. “Where’s Laurence?” She closed her eyes hard, but when she opened them tears came falling down. She looked down at her shaking hands. They were covered with dried blood. “So he’s dead.” She pulled the bedspread over and dropped her feet to the ground. There was a note on top of her nightstand, it said, 3 o’clock funeral. She glanced over to the clock. 3:25. The thoughts of missing the funeral were unbearable. She quickly slipped out of bed and out the door. There was no time to change clothes. She had to move fast; in her village funerals don’t last long. They were usually prohibited. She rushed down the street with tears in leaving a trail as she pushed people out her way to get to the funeral. She arrived and only 2 people were still saying their goodbyes, Commander and Marcilene.

“The poor soul.” Marcilene was saying, but noticed Sheridan barging towards the burial grounds. “Sheridan!”

“NO! Laurence.” Sheridan called out. And pushed aside Marcilene. The grave stood printed Here lies beloved Laurence Gabriel died March 27th.  “He could have lived, why commander, why?”

“Because he was already dead.” He answered.

“No he was, I could hear his heart beating!”

A drop of rain landed. Then a flood from the sky started pouring. Soon Sheridan fell upon her knees, drowning from her tear and the rain. “It’s seems the sky is crying also.” she paused for a moment. “I know he’s not dead, I heard his voice last night.”

“SHERIDAN! Get a grip on yourself. You’re losing it!” He shouted back at her.

“I can get him and he can tell you himself.” She muffled. Then started clawing at his grave.

“There’s nothing you can do, Sheri.”

“He can’t be gone. I have to see once more.”  She sobbed, digging with her hand. But the hole she created was filled with the rain.

“Marci, lets leave.” He told her.

“Yes, sir.” She looked pitiful down at her best friend in pain. Then walked off.

“The poor girl.” He told her as they walked down the streets.

“Yes, indeed.” Marcilene replied.

“She doesn’t realize. It’s been over a year, since he actually died.”

“I know.”

“She’s still in shock, I can’t believe it’s everyday.”

“Yes, like last night.”

“Exactly, she believe that’s his blood all over her shirt, but its actually her own.”

“It’s sad.”

“Very.”

“LAURENCE! Please wake up, do it for me. Please!” cried Sheridan. She kept digging at the dirt. Eventually, she realized it was useless. She decided to lie there for a while. Sobbing, cold and shaking she buried her face in her hands again. She knew what they thought. “I’m not crazy.” She screamed, but only to nobody-nobody was there, nobody had been there. She had been hallucinating, to the words spoken once by Marcilene and the Commander, that she overheard. Those words haunted her. Ever since then she began to think differently about Laurence’s death. But one thing was for certain, Laurence was alive, because where she sat, there was no gravestone. Her delusions always came to a interfere. She stood up straight and walked back home, where she should be. She imagined when she got home, that’d he’d be there. When she walked into the door. She was alone. She missed his sweet smell that lightened the room. But there was nothing to even breathe in her room anymore. She checked the clock, 2 in the morning. Yet still pouring down raindrops. What’s real? What’s not? She asked herself. “How am I ever going to get rid of this burden?” She said aloud. “I can’t stop my tears from falling down my face,” She continued. “Everything seems so real.” I’m completely lost. When are you coming back? Laurence-dead or alive, I just need to know.  She pondered with herself for a brief moment. She sat on her bed, tired and confused. Without knowing it, tears sprung from her eyes and pulled themselves to the ground. I’m completely lost, without you Laurence.

She fell fast sleep with the tears still rolling from her eyes.

*******

The next morning, she undressed from her stained clothes and washed them until the red was almost unnoticeable. By surprise someone knocked on her door. She went to answer it.

“Marcilene. Hey.” Sheridan greeted her and let her come in.

“I see you’ve cleaned up the place.” Marcilene said.

“Oh yes, just in time too.”

“I just came by to see how you’re doing?”

“I didn’t want to disrespect anyone-wait what are you talking about? I feel fine. Did something happen yesterday?”

“You mean, you don’t remember?”

“No. What happened?”

“I can’t tell you, if you don’t know-“ Another knock on the door.

“But-hold on. I’ll get that.” She walked over to the door, but when she glanced back at her friend, she had vanished. The door started shaking. Sheridan curiously opened it, but this time she sprung awake from her dream. She glanced back over to the clock.11:59am. She got up and dialed Marci’s number.

“Hello, Marci?”

“Yes, it is.” She answered.

“This is Sheridan. Sorry to bother you, but would you like to get some coffee?”

“Sure. That sounds good.”

“Okay. I’m heading down to your place.”

“See you.” Sheridan hung up. She packed her wallet and dressed in her civilian clothes. Then headed down to Marcilene’s house. She pasted by spiteful eyes full of hatred. What have I done, to deserve this? She thought. Eventually she reached her friend’s apartment building. She held down the talk button.

“Miss Marcilene Tomohal please. It’s Sheridan Dawn.” Sheridan talked into the speaker. Another voice answered.

“Oh yes, she told me you were coming. Go right in.”

“Thanks Jacey.” The doors unlocked and she let herself inside the building. “Apartment level 3 room A1. Sounds easy enough to find.” She muttered. She went up the stairs and not to far down the hall. She knocked on Marcilene’s door. “A1”

“Just a minute, I’ll be right out.” answered Marcilene.

“Alright.”

Marcilene opened the door. “Okay. I’m ready. Lets go.”

“Okay.” They headed back the way she came in.

“Marci,” Sheridan started as they walked out the building and down the street.

“Yes?”

“I’m sorry.”

Marcilene felt a quick shiver travel down her spine. She looked down hoping Sheridan didn’t catch her expression.

“Why, would you be sorry?” she questioned innocently.

“Because, you have to keep secrets from me. And most of the time you aren’t allowed to be seen with me.”

Marci glanced over at her eyes. She tried to say something, “Sher…” but Sheridan continued.

“You have to follow the rules more than anyone else. Everyone’s always so hard on you, and expect greater thing from you. I’m sorry that I can’t remember anything. I’m sorry for bringing you so much pain, and so many tears that can’t be seen.”

Marcilene’s heart stopped, but when it started again she throbbed in the painful memories. She remembers the punishment she received for helping her best friend. Her hand reached up her right arm, where a deep scar stayed. “You had that dream again.” Marcilene said.

“Yeah.” Sheridan noticed the pain she just put her friend back in. “The dream never ends. There’s always a knock on my door.” Marcilene came back to reality.

“Oh, we’re here.” She stammered. “The usual right?” she asked Sheri.

“Yes ma’m.”

“One Soy Latte and a Green Tea.”

“One moment please.” The lady at the counter said.

“Okay, Thank you. Lets find a seat Sher.”

Sheridan followed Marcilene, but never really got her head back to reality, she still pondered about her dream. “I think, I think….no” She wanted to finish, but she didn’t want her friend to be frightened of her.

“It’s alright. Continue.” Marcilene assured her.

“I think Laurence is trying to reach me through my dreams.” This surprised Marci a little.

“Oh.” She replied softly.

“He’s the one knocking on the door.”

“ONE Soy Latte and ONE Green Tea!” the voice called for them to receive their drinks.

“I’ll get that.” Marcilene offered. She walked up to the register and picked up the two drinks. Then came back and set the Green Tea on Sheridan’s side. “Tea for you, and Latte for me.” She said with a smile as she sat beside Sheri. “Well to make things happy again. I’ll change the subject.”

Sheridan looked up at her.

“Lets see, Jacey! Oh did you hear?”

“No, hear what?” Sheridan asked.

“Remember her last boyfriend?” Edward? Ever since he dumped her she got real depressed..”

“Yes, I remember. It was horrible, but we spend all night eating ice cream, watching corny movies and making her happy. Yet she still called us every night crying.”

“Well, you know Reed, right?”

“Yes.”

“Lately they’ve been seeing each other.”

“Oh really, that’s great. I should talk to her about that.” Sheridan was pleased to know her friend has found happiness again. “What about Delilah? I haven’t talked to her in awhile. I know she quit our team though. How’s her baby?”

“Oh you didn’t hear?” Marci asked her. Sheridan shook her head. “A new-born last week. Dougie hasn’t left her side, every night he makes sure she okay with the baby, before he leaves back home.”

“Oh really?”

“Yeah, he promised her, since he feels a bit responsible for her accident.”

There was silence.

“I remember that day perfectly. Mission day called the commander. It was Delilah and Dougie’s one-year anniversary. She planed to spend the rest of the night with him, out to dinner in the best restaurant in town, but held back by her mission. Unfortunately he got the day off for his extra  work the night before. When we left she came to us crying. I said she needed to handle it for our mission, but later on, she was taken then raped. When we found her, it was a mournful site…” Sheridan refused to meet Marcilene’s eyes.

“Dougie feels he should have came on the mission to protect her, he’s been regretting ever since then.” Marcilene responded.

“He’s not the only one.”

“Your right.”

“Theses memories upset me, more and more everyday. They haunt us and silence the village.”

“Be quiet.” Marcilene snapped. Sheridan looked up. “We mustn’t talk about this village, you know the punishment if someone heard.”

“Yes.”

“Are you done? I’m going to head back home.”

“Oh, yes I am, thank you.” Sheridan faked a smile and waved goodbye to Marci.

They want this village to be perfect, but in reality it’s a real hellhole. Women have no say; there are so many prohibitions. With one in ruler of all, the Commander. A self-fish human being who only cares to get the job done. Time passed as Sheridan became lost into her head. I can’t live like this. A loud shrieking noise broke Sheridan’s thoughts. It’s an alarm. “It’s a fire alarm, where’s the fire?” She turned around to where the noise was coming from. Beyond that she saw a fire bursting up into the air. Sheridan ran back toward the fire. That’s where Marcilene was heading. Oh god…. Her thoughts dragged on, as she ran. The air thickened, it became harder to breathe the closer she came to the fire. She painted. Then arrived to the building that was burning in the fire. Her eyes burning from the smoke. She tried to analyze what building it was. It seems familiar even on fire. “Oh goodness…” She recognized the building. Sheridan and Marcilene were just there. It’s her apartment building. “MARCILENE!!” she cried. The whole building was lit.

“I’m okay, Sheridan!” Marcilene came running up to her, coughing from the smoke in the air.

“Oh thank god. I was so worried.”

“I smelled the smoke before anyone else and warned everyone to get out.”

Sheridan didn’t pay attention to Marcilene; she was too distracted by the fire.

“Where’s Jacey?” she asked.

“Jacey? I didn’t warn Jacey. Oh god Jacey is still in there.” Marci panicked.

“What?!”

“I have to go back.” Marci started heading the opposite direction.

Sheridan grabbed her hand and pulled her back. “No,” she said. “What and see. Jacey’s a certified hingea. She can’t take care of herself.” Sheridan said with a reassuring smile.

The hingea, a type of ninja in our town. They dedicate their lives to everyday missions. Besides them the hingeo, the men soldiers, are the only protection this town has. Marcilene, Jacey, Delilah and I are a squad on most of the missions, but sometimes we join the other men soldiers as well. It depends how difficult the mission is. Because apparently to the Commander, men are always superior. Sheridan thought to herself.

“Come on, at least we can make sure she alright by looking around.” Marcilene convinced.

“Yeah, sure.”

********

Cough. Cough. Jacey choked. The fire is amorous, and the smoke was so thick I can’t see a thing. It’s too hard to breathe. She thought.

“PLEASE SOMEONE! HELP ME!” she heard a women’s voice shout. Then crying from what she thinks is a little girl. “PLEASE SOMEONE!”

“I’m on my way Miss.” Jacey called. She tried to figure out where the voice came from. Soon enough, a dark figure appeared out of the smoke. “Miss?”

“Oh yes, please help me and my daughter.” The women croaked.

“I’m coming.” She reached the women, but the smoke was too strong to inhale. The women dropped to her knee’s coughing.

“Mommy.” The baby girl cried.

“I’m here to save you, here put your arm around my shoulders and I’ll carry you out.”

“No, first save my daughter.” The women demanded.

“Little girl, come with me.” Jacey told her and picked her up. Then ran for the exit down the stairs. Fortunately she was only on level 2. She turned back. “Miss, please get yourself down to the first floor, I’m coming back for you.”

“Yes, I will. Thank you. Now go.”

Jacey rushed herself out the towards the main entrance, but it was blocked by a pole crashed onto it. So she headed to the emergency exit toward the back. “Hold on, sweetie.”

“Uh-huh.” The little girl nodded and closed her eyes tightly. Jacey pushed herself harder towards the door. She slammed against the door, making it fly open. Smoke came bursting out.

“JACEY!!” Marcilene and Sheridan called out as she came out. “Are you alright?” asked Marcilene.

Jacey was choking from the smoke as she tried to breathe in some fresh air. “Yeah.Cough.“I’m alright.” She let down the little girl.

“Where’s mommy?” she asked Jacey.

“She’s still inside darling. I’ll go get her.” She choke another cough then turned back at the building. She saw the top part cave in and fall into pieces.

“Mommy…” the little girl cried.

“Take care of the girl.” Demanded Jacey to the others. “I’m going back.”

“Jacey! You can’t be serious! It’s falling by the second! You’ll just die!” Marcilene shouted. Jacey looked at her, then down at the sobbing little girl. She kneeled down and told her. “It’ll all be okay.” With a smile, but the girl’s tears keeping running.

“I’ll be back.” She got up and rushed back inside to the burning depts. “MISS! Where are you?” She heard coughing over the left side of the building. She ran over, but it was all blocked in. “MISS!” she screamed again.

Cough. ”I’m…” Cough. Cough. ”…over here!” the women tried shouted back, but Jacey could tell she was weakened by a blow from the ceiling.

“I’m coming, just hold on.” Jacey tried to find the best way inside the close-in area; she would have to crawl to get underneath, but she was willing to take the risk. She dropped down to her hands and knees then squeezed herself through the opening.Cough. It’s even worse inside here. Jacey found the old women under a large concrete block. So she bent down trying to lift the block with all her might. She kept telling herself I have to help her, I have to help her. Slowly the block lifted up. Little by little, take it slow; you don’t want to drop it. “I need your help, please try to squeezed yourself out. I can’t lift much longer.” Then women moaned trying to pull her feet from the heavy weight laid above her broken leg. Almost out, can’t hold on. The last leg slipped out from the concrete block. Jacey dropped it and tried helping the moaning women get to her feet. She held her up to her shoulders.

“I guess it’s a good thing I came down to the first floor or I would have been crushed completely.” The women spoke with a small smile.

“Come on.” Jacey picked up one of the lady’s arms and helped lift her off the ground. She helped her reach the opening that she came in through. “You need to crawl under, hurry!” She lowed the women.

“I’ll try.” The women said coughing and moving her weak knees. She could tell the woman was forcing herself through. Jacey followed, pushing the lady forward with all her might. They made it back into the center of the building. “Hurry. Down this way.” Jacey lifted her shoulders up once more. She pulled the lady to safe outside as the building completely collapsed behind them.

“Mommy!” the little girl cried galloping towards her.

“Hey baby.” The mother said as tear fell from her face. She looked up to the girl who saved her life. “Thank you, I never though I’d make it out alive.” The women coughed then closed her eyes and became heavier. She was not longer holding her own weight anymore.

“We need a medical hingea, fast!” Jacey shouted.

“Got it!” Marcilene and Sheridan said in unison. They both sprinted in opposite directions.

“Mommy?” the girl asked. Blank minded looking at her mother.

“She’ll be just fine, darling.” Jacey tried to be convincing but she knew what the outcome would be.

“Over here.” Marci called from a distance with a medical team. They came rushing and transferred the women from her arms to the medical carrier then left to the hospital.

“Mommy! Where are they taking my mother” the little girl sobbed. Jacey ignored her.

“Stay here.” She said and walked off to the carrier where the mother is. “What here status?”

“Broken spine, both legs and a few ribs. We think, there could be more damage done, but we’d have to take her to the hospital fast.” The man in charge told her.

“It’s a pity.” Marci said shamefully.

“Agreed.” Jacey responded looking doubtful that the women would ever make it. “Most spine injuries end in death.”

“I know.” Marci looked down. “Will you take care of the girl?”

Jacey was stunned. It never crossed her mind. “We’ll see.” Was the only thing she was certain of at that point.

“I guess we should get some rest. Lets go home.” She looked up at Jacey. Then turned around. “Where’s Sheridan?” she questioned.

“I don’t know. She probably just wondered off.” Jacey replied emotionless.

“Well I’m going to see if the medical staff needs help with any of the surviving villagers, then stay at Sheridan’s. You should go to the hospital Jacey. You need some fresh oxygen in your system.” She waved goodbye hoping her friend doesn’t get carried away. “Oh and if you see Sheridan, tell her I’m at her house.”

“Okay, goodnight.” Jacey waved back. She walked back over to the little girl. She was frightened.

“It’s okay.” Jacey smiled.

“What about my mother?” she sobbed.

“Trust me. No matter what happens you have me.” Jacey’s grin widened. The girl didn’t respond. She was crying to hard to speak. “So what’s your name?” Jacey asked her.

“Chl..Chloe ”She replied still sobbing.

“Okay. It’s going to turn out fine, Chloe.” Jacey dropped down to her level. The girl jumped into her arms sobbing. “Shh-shh.” She tried to calm her down. Jacey picked the crying girl up and took her too the hospital.

They checked in at the main office.

“Came from the fire, huh?” The women at the counter smirked.

“Yes.” Jacey replied. She looked down at Chloe who fell asleep while they were walking over.

“Did they put the fire out yet? I live on the other side from where the fire started. I heard it all burned to pieces.”

“Yes, when we left they fire was depleted by the soldiers. I’m sorry that happened to your home.”

“It’s fine. I also heard that everyone made it out okay.” She chippers happily.

“Almost. We’re here to see a lady who became very injured, do you know where we might find her?”

“Is that her daughter?” she asked.

“Yes.”

“The emergency room is al the way down the hall on the last door to the left.”

She pointed.

“Thank you very much.” Jacey darted off in that direction. The last door, huh. “Emergency Room.” She read on the wall next to the room. Jacey peeked through the window. “Chloe, wake up.” She shook her.

Chloe moaned and opened her eyes. “Their not operating, would you like to see your mother?” Jacey asked her. She nodded. So Jacey set her down then continued, “But be strong for you mother, okay she’s probably need as much support as she can get right now.”  Chloe dried her eyes and nodded once more.  Then pushed open the door.

“There’s no visiting hours in the emergency room!” A doctor snapped.

“The women at the front desk said it was okay to come in and see. This is her daughter, Chloe.”  Jacey stated.

“Chloe.” A voice squealed, from the injured women.

“Mother.”  The girl rushed over. She held in the tears for her mother.

“It’s alright baby, you can cry. You let it all out. You know I’m dying, there’s nothing they can do for me now. So let it all out, okay.” The mother assured her, then attempted to smile.  The girl stayed stiff and took a deep breath in.

“Do you believe your going to die?” she asked staring strait into her mother’s eyes, with a no expression on her face.

“There’s no need to believe it, when it’s a fact that everyone dies sometime.”

“Is that going to be today?” she asked innocently.

“I wish it wasn’t, but I don’t believe I will be able to see tomorrow, more or less last tonight.”

“Oh…” she got very quiet.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be watching over you every second.”  She said as a gentle smile spread across her face. The tears swelled up in the daughter’s face.  “I know this is a lot to take in for you, Chloe. But I’m not going to sugar code it.”

I could tell. Jacey thought. The women continued, “The world isn’t a fantasy play place, you give and you take what is given to you. You must make a living in this world, find the one thing your good at and stick to it. I want you to grow up to be successful, and I know you’ll become one lovely lady.”

“Thank you, mother.”  And although Chloe didn’t understand mostly what she meant by her words on what her expect on life was about, she would soon need that knowledge for what comes soon in her life.
